RAIN!!!

Before I went to bed last night I noticed that the deck looked a little dark.  I flicked on the light to see why and low and behold a little drizzle of rain had soaked the exposed spaces.  Oh, how sweet, the plants will get some nice fresh drinking.   I woke up this morning to hear Swoosh.  Swoosh.  Swoosh.  My brain had to literally do a quick memory recall to analyze what was making the sound.  Swoosh.  Sounds like cars going through snow on hwy 20.  No.  We arn’t on 20 anymore.  Think harder.  Brain wake up.  Swoosh.  Darren?  (he was still awake from the night shift) – Did it rain all night?  Yep, I think so was his reply.  Swoosh. Once I knew what I was listening to it was like the curtain going up on the orchestra and the instruments tuning, then come to a stop, an then the music playing a beautiful well tuned, well directed musical.  Drips, splats, patter or rain. Swoosh from the cars.  I got up and opened the windows to take it all in. Now, it is still raining. the puddles are so beautiful with the pitter of raindrops.  Drips from the trees.  You can actually see the leaves growing firm again and raising their faces to the heavens for more.   Here in the Central Oregon High Desert rain seldom comes, and usually by a quickly moving thunderstorm that splatters and floods in the summer over the course of a couple of hours, and snow in the winter.  A long day of overcast constant rain is so rare that one forgets what it looks like, sounds like, smells like, so refreshing.  I will never again take for granted free water, free refreshment, free music, free cleansing in the form of rain from heaven.

So – I figure there will not be reading in the park today, nor will the outdoor water park be open with the threats of thunder storms moving in around 11am.  What to do?  Play with the new scrap set I got in the mail the day before we went too Coos Bay of course!!!  Simply Scrappin, Primary Colors.  I’m so excited.  School and reading for the boys, Scrappin and Cleanin’ for me.  I’ve gotten my cleaning done this morning, as soon as the boys are done with school, I’ll be scrap happy. 🙂
