Christmas Eve – Acord Style

Our traditional Acord Christmas Eve dinner.  Meats and Cheeses, Crackers.  When I was little we would have a small pot of oyster stew, a larger pot of clam chowder, and  my mom would make me potato soup, vats of it.   Since my boys like clams, we have clam chowder and oysters.  This year I fried the oysters.  We topped off the meal with a cherry pie.  Darren is’nt feeling well, so I didn’t over do it with the meats and cheeses, but when I was a kid I have grand rememberances of so many types of meats and cheeses, pickles and olives crackers, so many crackers.  We would eat in the late afternoon. Then I would clean up all the dishes.  My worst memories were in Oklahoma City, as we had a carpeted dining room and kitchen.  The floors would have to be cleaned before I could be done.  I still think my dad crumpled up crackers on the floor on purpose just to drag out the evening. 🙂   Then I would play santa and pass out our family gifts.  On Christmas Morning there would be a stocking at my door.  I usually got up at 2am, ate the chocolate, played with the stationery or lip gloss or such, and go back to sleep.  Here, we take the Wright family tradition and open one gift on Christmas eve and the rest in the morning.  I’ll post pictures tomorrow of the morning.  Since we learned about St. Nicholas, we did the stockings on December 6th in honor of what we learned. Clam Chowder – Potato soup style. Oh Wait, somethings missing . . . . . ahhhh now its perfect. Maybe a few more crackers. 🙂

Jon set up the manger scene with the candle to make it pretty.  Nice fried oysters there in the plate too.
