"Rights are where survivors go, so that they won’t have to work out relationships," . . .

When I was younger – especially working in the industry I was in – I was very concerned about rights -fighting for them – personal rights. I have mellowed the last 20 years, as most adults do – but we still seem to cling on to the personal rights issue. As moms – we have a right to free time- a right to watch a movie – a right to have some down time. As home schoolers we have the right to privacy and etc. On the surface these are true- but not to the extent that they hurt relationships. We have the right to be apologized for – or the right to flowers on Mother’s day – but do we-really? I would rather mend a relationship than survive the battles.
