The Shack- The things I disagreed with

Actually, there were a lot of things biblically that I disagree with in the book. I have heard that churches have backed the book – that Sunday school teachers have had books study from it – that people who have never given God a chance are "finding him" through this book. To the non Christian- there are several things that go against his Word – God tells Mack that he does not punish sin- that sin is it’s own punishment – he tells Mack that all religions point to Him and He’ll use any means possible to bring you to His Son. Those statements are very small in an in context to a born again believer in the context of the paragraph – is not worth throwing the book away – but to the millions of people seeking a savior – who have not read the bible – these are DANGEROUS statements. I do believe that for the believer – our sins will not be punished – as they have already been forgiven. I do believe he does not free us from earthly consequence to have total freedom to sin without paying here on earth- but the penalties in Heaven, I believe for me, will be to know how far we missed the mark – even when we thought we were living in righteousness. I do believe that God will seek out every man on earth too – He promised that the Holy Spirit would reveal himself to man – and they would have God’s word written in their hearts – and that he would call all men to himself. So yes, I do believe that no matter how deep a person is in a culture or religion – He will be able to see that his Goal that none should perish is possible. However – he is a jealous God. And no one can serve two masters. He is quite clear on what pleases Him – and what will quench the Spirit. I would rather come to Christ and learn all the ways that I can bring him Joy. Without faith it is impossible to please Him – to believe that he exists and that He has a purpose for you! – find that purpose – find that joy – and find ways to increase your faith. I really doubt that your faith will ever be increased in books that are not centered in God’s Word. So – even for the joy and discovery that I have previously written about – I can not close the chapter on my ponderings without a warning to seek biblical truth in ANY matter that even minutely "changes how you see God". Careful- the Bible speaks over and over on how things may look and feel good -but still not be of Him!
