So the final spark – outside of the apple blossoms in the front yard – that lights the fire of spring and summer – is the running of the canal. The canals in Bend are amazing and a whole other long post in and of itself! Last year we discovered that the end of the canal is in our backyard. That the final 10 feet or so was actually owned by the water company. That the 3 inch tube sticking out of the ground was a release valve of the canal. – and that with a flip of switch – it could pour forth gold for the boys. Last year we dug water channels to feed our corn and zuccini. This year – I’m not sure what we will plant along the shores. For now – its just fun. The pipe is over in the corner – at the corner of the fences.
Jon spends every moment of his days outside digging holes. Good thing – he was ready for the first day of gold.
These holes are about hot tub depth. . . . .
Even the girls love the puddles of gold.
