Today’s list was Bible, PE, Nature, Literature, Science, Math, Reading and Writing. Also family time with Dad who has been out of town for 3 days. Jon woke up and wanted to take the dog for a walk at the dog park. Brother wanted to sleep in and enjoy the one day a week that we do not have plans.
We nudged the sleeping giant – Nate – told him we’d be back soon from a walk, and it aroused his interest enough to pop out of bed. It is a beautiful warm day in Central Oregon, so I packed a backpack full of crackers, breakfast bars, water, coffee, books, cd’s and a cell phone with a camera to set off on our trip with.
1/4 mile down the road is the entrance to our local park. We walked to the “apartments”, various sized flat ledges on the top of a large high lava rock outcropping that overlooks the Three Sisters, Bachelor and Broken Top.
The boys took a while listening to their AWANA verses on CD, reading their sections. A few lizards came out of their hidey hole to listen to us read ‘Squill and Will’ and ‘Red Knot’. The boys took a break to look for the Lizards in the area.
We spent some time talking about Horseshoe Crabs and their golf ball sized eggs that the Shorebirds ate on their 20,000 mile journey from Teirra Del Fuego, Argentina, South America to Canada and back. We petted a few dogs and waved at a few people that strolled by. We talked about the habitats of the Lizards and watched them catch flies and ants while sunning on their rocks.
Then we walked home, well, I walked, Jon hopped from rock to rock.
Bible, PE Nature, Literature and Science, and Geography covered – we moved on to Math, Reading and Writing. Jon worked on Would You Rather Have 1/4 of 100 Gems or 5 x 4 Gems type questions in his Miquon Green book, while Nathan listened to the DIVE CD for Saxon 7/6 explain the divisibility rules for 2, 5, 10, 3 and 9. Jon spent time on copy work from the Red Knot book, he liked their “snug nest” and wrote about that, also drawing a scene from the book. Nathan wrote out the charts for the divisibility tests to put into his Math Helps notebook. Jonathan read about Joshua and the Walls of Jerico, Deborah, and started on Gideon in his Rocket Reader Bible. Then they made a snack for lunch.
Now with Art, Writing, Reading and Math under control, Nathan is munching on a Sandwich in his bed while reading a library book, Jon is playing with Legos in the living room, the dog is at my feet and hubby is resting on the couch. It is now 12:31. We all got up at 8:00 a.m. We will watch a movie together as a family, then either go to church for dinner tonight or to McMenamins for the Burger, Beer and a movie night to watch UP!
How is your Wednesday going?
