Oh for the joy of learning that a friend of ours celebrated Saint Nicholas Day. – Saint Nicholas Center – On December 6th, or the eve on December 5th. What Fun! For the past three years we have put out our stockings, or shoes, on the front porch. Usually a gold dollar, and some candy appear in the morning. 🙂 In the snow, we let poor old St Nick come warm himself by the fire while his little donkey eats all of our Timothy Hay out front. 🙂
The time became even MORE joyful when we learned of National Cookie Day – December 4th. So we bake cookies, um for St Nick? One year we had friends over and made Hanukah cookie cutouts. . . . that as a bit too much information all on the same day. 🙂
We did a bit of study on this very real saint, and what he did for his community, for the Lord. We urge the boy to see a need, find creative ways to discover needs, and then do what they can to fill that void. Not to always get credit for services rendered, but not to always shy away from the lime light either. Balance is key.
And hey, like who doesn’t want another Hallmark excuse to make cookies for the neighbors eh?
