Learning from the Locals

We have been meeting quite a few people in town, and for the most part, they have all been truly amazing. They ask the never ending question of – Why arn’t the kids in school today?  – “We homeschool – Today is Beach School.”  “OH”. they reply, and a searching thought can be seen behind the eyes, and then, as if never given the opportunity before, they tell us everything that comes to mind about their favorite topic.  The boys and I are quite used to this, and, now, more than ever, without time restraints, we sit and listen.  One person we’ve run into walks a stretch of beach 3 times a week from Mo’s to the Inn at Spanish Head.  “Have you heard of the giant squid on the beach boys?”. Wow. Tall tale I thought. But he whips out his phone and shows them pictures.  Here is the local story:  http://www.beachconnection.net/news/fsquid121009_355.php

I might have to start a “Why arn’t the kids in school today? section. To share what we learn from others. 🙂

I love the idea of a regular feature: “Why aren’t the kids in school today?” We’d play along!

I love to hear from my readers, I appreciate comments!
