The Whales are Here!

A gray whale breaches off the Oregon coast. Homeschool Science

For the first time in my life, I’m excited about the whale migration.  I guess knowledge is power – because I didn’t know how many whales migrated, and how easy they are to see. I think I grew up in the generation that was told they were endangered and all dead, except for the 5 we kept in a tank at water world parks.  . . . . Not sure why I never ran to these events before.  Well – anyways, whatever the reason – the boys are excited – and so am I. According to the website – 21 whales were spotted yesterday. Guess I should have been looking at the horizon instead of the rocks yesterday! 🙂

So – for science  and geography – we will be studying these great creatures – still low on numbers, but not quite as exhausted in number as told to little school kids. 🙂
