What about Drawing?

Homeschool, Drawing, Lincoln City

When I went to pull out the Three R’s from the classroom to work on today, I spotted my old writing book.  A couple of years ago we spent alot of time using Timberdoodle’s Drawing Textbook and some Draw Write Now books.  We have really enjoyed having the simple instruction of how to draw.  Drawing Textbook takes a student step by step, how to practice, how to see perspective, how to shade, how to add perspective.  As you can see from Timberdoodle’s sample page, the drawings are simple, and the instruction paragraph leads one step by step in how to create. Each lesson builds on the previous.  The biggest thing we learned, is that practice can be simple.  Drawing straight lines, ovals or circles quickly on a piece of paper trying to make them consistent in size and shape for about 15 minutes a day, doodling in the car or while on the phone purposefully.

I wondered how the boys had progressed in their skills the last year or two since we did this every day. They enjoyed seeing their portfolio of older pictures, we laughed a bit, I smiled alot!

So here is a picture of us today, and their creations.
