What do you DO all day?

Our number one question starting homeschooling was – What Do We Do All Day???? I had the Math and English  – Could get them done by noon. Or ten thirty.  What do we do for the rest of the day?

Now, 6 years later, our afternoons are full.  Trips to the library, walks, nature studies, visiting, serving.

We stock the house with items that spur creativity. Each boy has craft box, we have an entire craft room for me. 🙂 They like to put food items on the grocery list to bake in the afternoons.  We learned this year to save material that is interesting, sweaters, felt, camo.

Homeschool Boys Craft CamoJon has grown attached to “Beary”. He reads him stories, and tucks him into his bed made from a shoe box at night. Yesterday he decided to make beary  pants.  Jon has a pair of shorts that had been patched 4 times and then still ripped up the leg.  We cut out all of the material we could salvage and hot glued some pants, then he designed a hat as well.  Jon likes to dress head to toe in camo. The colors have to match, black/blue/green/brown/forest – can not be mixed. He has 3 entire outfits. Here’s Beary’s.Homeschool Craft Boys Camo Bear

We had enough material for pants and a hat. Jon wanted me to cut out his pockets for bags for him to keep “rocks and legos in”.  Sigh.  Nathan made us brownies with chocolate frosting while I helped Jon with the hot glue gun. Jon finally got burned on the finger – MAYBE he’ll be more careful next time.  I used a sliver of fabric to make a knitting needle holder. My needles fall through the bag.Homeschool Craft Camo BoysHomeschool Cooking Brownies Craft Bag on the Go

What do you do in the afternoons to pass the time? What is in your craft cupboard?

Just found your blog and have really enjoyed reading through it. We are also unschoolers, but like you, that doesn’t mean that we don’t do anything!:)

We travel full-time so unfortunatley, most of the craft closet didn’t make it to our camper. My daughter is always up to something. She’ll crochet, make things with duct tape or ‘find things’ outside to make into something. I did pack a wood burning kit that the boys have enjoyed and we’re going to learn how to do some leather working. The are all eager to create a leather bound journal. I think I’ll be a good sport and make one as well.

    Blessings!:)

Hi, I just found your blog through another blog.

I just started homeschooling my 7th grade daughter. We are at the point of relaxed/unschooling, as that has always been my theory in life 🙂

I’m going to read your blog for ideas!

We just started a blog together (mostly me 🙂
