Nice little walk in the sun break to Shark Fin Rock by Olivia Beach –
When Nathan the Eagle Eye spots this Beaver in the crack of the riprap.
Seriously cute – but seriously in the wrong place –
a mile or more north or south to fresh water
I think this is an American Beaver that we found on the beach
He is still standing up – but Seriously – Cute right? Guinea Pig Cute.
The tail had amazingly cool texture – like leather – or Rhino or ???
He found a hoe in the rip rap there in the crack on the end. The worker we spoke with says it is a problem with man made structures that shore up the beach line, it actually can create more erosion and, like with this beaver it is a false habitat that is dangerous.
Here is another story of a Beaver found near Trestles in February.
We have been on the phone off and on for about 3 hours with the Wildlife Pager – ODFW’s contact – with Volunteers here in town trained to help relocate these lost guys. Report is that he is great, just thirsty, and that they are going to transport him to our side of the lake. Super Cool.
Of course we were high sun with a cell phone camera – but still glad to have captured our newest find on the beach!
UPDATE!! WAHOOOO
I called and they let us see the release!!! The volunteers also gave us permission to post their number –
Wildlife Center of the North Coast, based out of Astoria, Oregon – With Volunteers along the coast. The Pager Number is 503-338-3954 – If you find something that you think has been displaced, call the pager number like we did, and then let the volunteers get at it!
Visit Coast Wildlife’s Website!
But not before you’ve scrolled just a bit further to see the release photos!
The volunteers got the Beaver into the large crate without a fuss. He was tired, but seemed well.
Boys pose for a pic by the Wildlife Center of the North Coast Volunteer
South East side of Devils Lake
We got to see him swim eastward up the little creek. Very Cool.
