Nice little walk in the sun break to Shark Fin Rock by Olivia Beach –
When Nathan the Eagle Eye spots this Beaver in the crack of the riprap.
Seriously cute – but seriously in the wrong place –
a mile or more north or south to fresh water
I think this is an American Beaver that we found on the beach
He is still standing up – but Seriously – Cute right? Guinea Pig Cute.
The tail ad amazingly cool texture – like a leather – or Rhino or ???
He found a hole in the rip rap there in the crack on the end. The worker we spoke with says it is a problem with man made structures that shore up the beach line, it actually can create more erosion and, like with this beaver it is a false habitat that is dangerous.
Here is another story of a Beaver found near Trestles in February.
We have been on the phone off and on for about 3 hours with the Wildlife Pager – ODFW’s contact – with Volunteers here in town trained to help relocated these lost guys. Report is that he is great, just thirsty, and that they are going to transport him to our side of the lake. Super Cool.
Of course we were high sun with a cell phone camera – but still glad to have captured our newest find on the beach!

Cool beaver pictures! Cannot wait to visit ya sometime.
I’ve never heard of beavers at the beach. We have them here in the mountains like crazy, but at the beach??? Must’ve got a good deal on a timeshare. 😉
That made me giggle – Hey, I guess everyone actually does come to the beach for spring break, must of have been some party – bet they lost their deposit. 🙂
What a wonderful post about finding a beaver at the coast. We are not too far from you, I think. We live in the mid-Willamette Valley and homeschool also using a relaxed, unschool, CM style. =)
Yes, we would be neighbors – We are in the Otis Area straight across. If y’all ever wander over to wonder at the tide pools – we’d love to show you our favorite spots. 🙂
That would be great! I’d love to take you up on that. =) I’m adding you to my blog roll… ~Cori
