Sitting on the deck this morning, smothered in blankets sipping hot coffee – waiting to view the birds that are shy in the mornings. I can see them from the house, but as soon as I either open the slider door, or walk around the house – they fly off.
So – after about an hour of observation the Northern Flicker came by to his favorite tree. Any time before that I’ve tried to go paparazzi on him, he just hops to the other side of the tree. But this morning – he flew down to a rotting stump in the neighbor’s yard. These photos are extremely zoomed in from my excitedly shaky hands with a point and shoot cannon camera –
