Back to our regularly scheduled programming – where I share with you how we homeschool/unschool/relaxed some schooling through middle school –
Our Daily Gram Workbooks came in today!
We sat down after dinner and I showed the boys how we were going to use the books and the “help” books together.
Nate was able to do his page on his own, Jon needed just a bit of help reading the instructions, but he caught on quickly. The “sentence combining” went really easily for both – which was a hardship the last time we tried this about 4 years ago.
That’s It? That’s All? Is what I heard from the boys.
I’ll keep ya posted. But – I’ve heard from many families that they did the daily grams through Jr. High and High School to keep their skills up front – and it really helped later on. Just enough. Nothing More. 🙂 – maybe it will even keep me thinking of punctuation and spelling for my posts. Maybe not. Ha ha ha .
I have a friend with a really bright 10 year old girl that reads a lot – and they are looking for an English/grammar all in one curriculum. Any ideas?

We also use Easy grammar. We are doing the daily Grams this year, and will probably keep up the Daily grams as well. I have one using the daily Grams 7 too!
What are those two other little books you have in your picture?
Are they helpful?
Hi Rodna! Its Painless Grammar and Punctuation Made Easy, by Learning made Easy. The tip I received from friends using this with older kids – is to have them do the daily gram each day – looking up the punctuation or such that they have questions with, instead of the Easy Grammar lesson each day, if they know the grammar then why the torture? They have the kids circle the ones they can’t figure out, and that becomes their lesson on Friday or Monday.
Nate, who hasn’t done grammar in a year, and got bumped up a grade to see if he could – said that he didn’t want to do the daily grams while the cousins were here because he’d be embarrased. I think they thought they were the 5th grade ones, instead of 7th. He was surprised when I said they were real 7th grade work. “But they’re too easy!”. Oh the joy of homeschooling.
