Meet Bob. Bob came home one day after Jon went to the neighbors to help them haul leaves up the hill. He was really quite overjoyed. I had mentioned that our mission for the week was to find a cricket or grasshopper. He says – Mom — then you have to go outside in the evening – that’s when they talk to each other and are easier to catch. Well. Study done. 🙂 He brought one home to prove how ease they were to catch. 🙂
We sat down to work on our journal – he said he copied the picture – he didn’t sketch Bob. Bob wouldn’t have liked that. . . .(mom rolls eyes).
Ewe!!! What is this black gunk? Jon says it is an acid of sorts that they use – that it tastes really bitter – and it is their weapon. We looked it up and he was right. No – I didn’t’ t ask how he knew it was bitter. . . .

yay! this is really cool! we often have grasshopper visitors at our house… matter of fact one landed on the spelling book the other day while I was doing spelling dictation. I even got it on video! it was cool 🙂

Eeww…even this nature loving person thinks that is pretty yucky black stuff. I love how your family includes nature study in with your everyday life.
Great job on this challenge and thank you for sharing your link.
