Friday Afternoons at the Beach

The boys have missed the Friday Fun Days that we used to have in Central Oregon – We seem to have alot of company or school catch up on Fridays. This year we have had Lego League at our house every Friday Afternoon – so it has also become Friday Clean Up Day – Set It Up Day and Clean It up Again Day. Today – with the Veterans Day Weekend – we had our First Lego League meeting in the morning – which freed up the entire afternoon. Both Jon and Nate had a friend in the car as we took advantage of a great fall day on the Coast.

Our favorite part of living in Lincoln City is having the beach access points all throughout town. Although we have spent the last year finding the more out of the way the little end of the road turn outs –  we still enjoy the touristy – vacationer finder spots. Yesterday we had an opportunity to drive to Depoe Bay and back – a small 20 mile round trip – on  a gorgeous sunny day. Huge Waves. Big Spray. Green glass color in the crest of the waves. The Spouting Horn in Depoe Bay was shooting skyward in random patterns. Due to the Veteran’s Day Weekend there was a holiday vacation feel in the air as we gathered with many other vacationers on the beach. Did I mention how much I love being a homeschooler in Lincoln City?

Depoe Bay, Oregon – Spouting Horn – A small spray – the larger sprays fill my entire camera view! There were quite a few HUGE spouts today.

DSCN8329 DSCN8348It was chilly when we got back to town – a little walking and wake boarding – and the jackets peeled off. A beautiful warm sunset in Lincoln City!

DSCN8351  This side walk gets packed thick with lawn chairs on the busy summer days. It is the perfect perch to be close to the ocean, yet save your back and hip from walking on the beach directly. Nate took advantage of the winter – crowd-less-area to wake board back and forth for a little over an hour. This picture looks squished – his almost six foot frame is so tall! I took a long walk up D River and over to the State Park though the wetlands boardwalk that connects the two state park areas. We made it back to the beach just in time to see the pink sky and the sun slip away for the night. Seriously. Have I mentioned how great it is to be a homeschooler lately?

Love the photos, and your green glass description that I can see with my own eyes in your photos, almost as good as being right there. Thanks for a mini vacation….minus the sand. 😉

I love to hear from my readers, I appreciate comments!
