Yesterday we went around town looking for trouble — I had fun browsing JoAnne’s, Jon at the Pet Store and Nate at Rite Aid. Trouble was to be found at the Rite Aid! 75% off of toys – included NERF! Seriously! The boys stocked up on two pack Nerf Blasters with some left over Christmas Cash – complete with Laser Pointers. We zipped across the street to the hardware section of the local Mart to pick up 3 dowels and asked the clerk for some cardboard.
We went across the street the other way and picked up 3 hot fudge sundaes at McD’s and a few large thick straws –
I had been in the mood to get back into the craft room – but my direction turned a bit from embossed flowers to cardboard and markers with the new Nerf Guns in the house!
I had seen a post the end of December on Almost Unschoolers about a Cardboard Nerf Target.
So – the next morning – I joined my friends on the streaming radio over at K-Light for some encouraging Word and Music – and set to cutting, duct tape, markers – Creative – Boy Style.
The boys woke up to this target set up – I put out a table cloth behind the futon so that little darts would not get caught behind the couch. The boys took the white board and drew a Deer on it, organs and all, with a bull’s eye – the suction cup from the darts make a really neat little circle when it gets ripped off the white board.
They moved the targets from the dining room down to the basement, hung sheets from the beds, put up the white board, and have been busy all afternoon.
I ended up the day making two stamped cards with flowers and ribbon and everything – with my music playing late into the evening – with a friend online on chat – who knew that cardboard and duct tape would be my new inspiration?
Borrowing a phrase from my online Almost Unschooling friend – It’s great to be a homeschooler!

Yes, it is! Love the target. I’m very jealous of the Rite-Aid Sale!
Very cool! You are great MOM!
I like flooding my Google Reader with great Blogs – like yours – which give me great ideas to implement. 🙂 Thanks for helping me look great. 🙂
