A Big Day for Oregon

It is an amazing day to be an Oregonian. Today – 9 new Republican Representatives will be sworn in to service – Two of them – I am glad to call friends.

Are you upset with your government? When you say things like “Senate, Government, Those Guys, my Representative, Congress” – Are they titles? Unknown Entities? Or do you have faces to go along with them? We have gotten know know our representatives in the districts we have lived in.

It is like friendship – it is as much more your responsibility to start dialog as it is theirs to listen.

Today – These two men – are not in charge of my district. Today – they stand for their families. Wives. Children. Sons and Daughters. They represent a close circle of friends, ties to their church families. They represent communities in the Central Oregon High Desert. They represent You. What it means to say they want the Government to Change – and then stood up to be a part of that change. A part of Action. Each man put their successful careers on the back burner – to work for You.

Both of the personal stories of Mike and Jason – their Families – make you just want to stand up and realize that you too could do what they have done in life. They are the picture of the American Dream Realized – and still dreaming.

And I wonder – How many other people, across this great nation of ours – is standing up today. Next to their cutie blond wives with their precious children in new shirts and hair cuts. Heads Held High. With a tear in their eye, a tightness in their chests, and the overwhelming fruition of what they just got themselves into.  Will you support them? Go today and see who is representing you. Find out what their story is. Find out what they are fighting for. You might just be a little bit slower to complain about the job they are doing.

Amy – in this video. Is my dear friend. I love her so much my little eyes are tearing up more cause I miss her munchkins, coffee talks, homeschool help, and encouragement. Those little boys? That lil ol girl? Man I wanna squeeze em. Their two oldest boys. I am in awe. I can only hope that our direction will go the same way. Honorable. Growing into Men. Tissue please? Anyone?

This guy? That’s Mike. His cutie wife Holly introduced me to Hummus and Veggies, Knit Socks, Air Soft, & Sandlot Baseball and taking care of Family on a Ranch. They made a choice to move to Central Oregon for their family – and now, have grown that choice to live in Central Oregon – for all of those in their community. I love reading her blog – hearing what the kiddos are up to, hearing how she has helped her family – funny. Funny Gal. She could give Pioneer Woman a run for her money if she blogged full time.

As you can read – I’m pretty excited for today.

Oh. And then there’s one little tiny itty bitty even going on this evening –

Oh Ya.  It’s a Big Day for Oregon!

Wonderful post! It does bring a sense of pride for our country and the system that gives us the freedom we so take for granted at times. Have a blessed day.
