For all of my soon to be Snow Bound Buddies – We participated in the Winter Wednesday Challenge . Our task was to walk around looking for colors in our own yard. The photos below are from a walkabout on Thursday afternoon.
Not sure if the yellow Air Soft bb-‘s count, but they do seem to grow and multiply.
We did the Fall Scavenger Hunt at the Connie Hansens Gardens (Which I see had technical difficulties with the move to WordPress. . .) So –
We went back to the Connie Hansens Garden for the Winter Color Scavenger Hunt – Here is a link to a Sky Drive Movie of the trip –

The boys took their Notebooking Page with them, I forgot colored pencils – so they are more grey scale. We came home and made Baked Potato Bar – which was colorful enough to share, since it was Winter Weds Color Edition.
I am excited to back on the weekly groove of the Outdoor Hour Challenges. It is great to have a focus as we walk – the boys really chatted it up about the barren trees at the Gardens – I am excited that they got to see in now, before we walk into a color wonderland in a couple of months. I talked to a friend this week about the challenge and her comment was ‘Ya, all we have is Green or Green’. Oh. I had to smile. I remember 5 winters in the High Desert where we had Tannish Brown or White. Oh – What I would have given for one of these almost spring like winters. Bring on the Rain. I can’t wait for Spring!
Barb is hosting a bit differently this winter – directing us to two e-books that she has created in the past, that most of us have not gone through. I have not quite yet been on board for a year yet – so these are all new to me. The other option for this week is a Winter Cattail Study – which we will do sometime this week. The McLinky is on her site here – http://handbookofnaturestudy.blogspot.com/2011/01/2011-winter-series-outdoor-hour.html
Join us? Maybe one of your Wordless Weds. posts could show the winter colors?
