Christian Liberty Nature Readers

We were at the park last week, the first time ever at this location, meeting a complete stranger, when she asked if I homeschooled. I didn’t think I had said anything homeschoolish – and it caught me off guard. Yes, we do – I waited for the usual reasons for why she didn’t – she works for the school district – but they didn’t come. She told me her story of how she had homeschooled for 12 years and had just recently put her youngest in a school. Nice conversation.  Then a bit later her daughter came and gave me five books.  Christian Liberty Nature Readers. I have seen these in magazines and on the reading lists for Ambleside Online – the resource for reading the Charlotte Mason way. She said that she had been carrying them around in her trunk for quite some time, waiting to drop them off at Goodwill or such, but wanted to go to the person who might use them. I hadn’t told her of the struggle my 11 year old has had with reading and writing. I had not told her my hearts desire to teach writing and reading comprehension in the ways I have learned from Charlotte Mason and Ruth Beechick. I had not told her of the process we have gone through this summer trying to find  what he will read  – mostly non fiction – and that he tires of the He Said She Said type of books. I had not shared that he and I both get bored with little paragraphs and cartoon animals. I hadn’t told her anything. But He knew. And He knew her. And He knew me. He hooked us up. I went back to the park several times last week, without the opportunity to tell her it all. Oh I was joyful and grateful and eye brimming with tears at a monetary gift of over 50 dollars and of the unspoken request answered of what to get to read for the year. . . .But I haven’t told her. Just Him. I also got a phone call for a resource to borrow the Math Saxon 7/6 book from this week, the same morning actually. My heart is glad and full.  I will keep trusting that He knows what I need. He will provide! Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
