Why must they sit so CLOSE!?!?!

DSCN1925This week we went to the Driftwood Library to see the Reptile Man. Wait. I didn’t say that right – we saw

The Reptile Man!!

It was so fun.

Last week with JuggleMania the crowd was mostly younger – mostly little girls.  We giggled as this week’s crowd filled with more and more rambunctious boys – older boys – and tom boy looking girls.  There were two boys sitting behind us, that looked tall enough to be teens – who constantly commented – “I think they want us to sit down there Mom”. No, mom would answer.  “This is for the younger group”. Which is was – technically – but my almost teen son was in the front row. 🙂

JuggleMania needs to take a tip and have a box with red tape – and pull on leather gloves every once in a while – and then mention something death defying like – If you move – He’ll Bite You. And you’ll DIE.  If you raise your hand – he’ll snap at it. If you scream, He’ll lunge at you in the crowd.  I’m just sayin’ . . . it made for great crowd control.

DSCN1927My boys said – “The thing I like best about the show – is the guy. He really seemed to like showing us his  reptiles. He really seemed to like scaring the moms and little girls.” Well. What pre-teen wouldn’t give their right hand to have a chance to scare moms and girls? The way he kept bringing the reptiles so close to the front row. . This mom was getting a pretty fast pulse rate! The 3 up front are with us. 🙂

My favorite part was with the Black Rat Snake ( I think ) which was an albino. When The Reptile Man pulled out the snake, he also had a recently shed skin – which he threw right at Nate!  So – It’s on the shelf, next to the dead bat, and the Fossils, and the agates and feathers and . um. Boy  Stuff.

DSCN1931He had such a great way with kids- he could work them up, and bring them back down. He could scare your socks off – and then reassure you that your fear is invalid. He used comedy to teach details of the reptiles, where to find them, how to care for them, which ones not to keep – which ones will need a 200 year contract to own. 🙂

The Reptile Man with Jon’s Favorite Snake – The Green. Snake? Ya.Maybe I should have spent less time in shock and more time paying attention. 🙂

Looks like a great time. My son would love this!

  2. How cool! My boys certainly would have loved it…notice I said boys, not kids! 🙂 I’m really curious though, which snake do you need a 200 year contract to own? Thanks for linking up, you’ve had some really fun library adventures this summer!:)

He had Lizards, Turtles and Snakes – I think it was the snapping turtles – or some type of turtle that kids pick up at the pond or pet store as little pancake size pets that grow huge. 🙂

Ooo, fun. That reminds me of the other day when I asked my 7 year old nephew what he wanted for his bday. He said, “A non-fiction book about reptiles.”

You know you’re a homeschooler when you get anxious over someone taking your snake skin! 🙂 hehehe!!!

I can see the news now…Attack during The Reptile Man…and it’s not what you think! Tonight at 9!

    Or…

When Mother’s Attack! ..and the scared children they leave behind!

“The vacant shell-shocked expersions of the children chilled your soul especially after hearing how 2 mothers mowed down a toddler, took out a Kindergartner & tossed a pre-teen to the floor. The carnage was excessive; bits and pieces of skin thrown about like confetti after a New Years Eve gala. As one woman was wheeled away clutching her prize, a shredded snake skin a few inches long, she repeated to herself…’…good science…good science…good science…’

    🙂 Honey

Would it have been bad form to dive for said snake skin or to wrestle him for it? Probably a good thing I didn’t go. Snake skins are so cool!!! And, I think I’m a little boy at heart ’cause there’s nothing more enjoyable than scaring the crap out of my daughter with fake snakes. Tyler and I have scared Ben too. Ever seen a 6’2″ (are those backwards?..anyways..that’s 6 foot 2 inches…) grown man do some river dancin’ over a fake snake? So funny you’ll pee yourself!

I needed your funny comment Honey. 🙂 I was actually a bit worked up with anxiety to think that some kid would ask Nathan to pass it around and it would get broken or taken, and we’d have no means to make a claim. 🙂 Nate said kids were telling him, they’d gladly pay $20.00 Tuesday for the Snake Skin given today. 🙂 Nate said – No. 🙂 Good Boy. It made it home in one piece. 🙂

  6. Thank you for your visit to the library and my presentation. I just try to have fun along with the kids.

    Rich.
