Our Devils Lake is fed by many streams and creeks from the eastern Hills. We live up there on the furtherst Northern leg. Normally, this is refreshing, as all of those creeks constantly replenish the lake with beautiful clear water – refreshing – sweet – Until . . . . You get three inches of rain in one day – AND – see the southern part of the lake? That’s the World’s Shortest River – D River. Well, this past week with the thirty food waves, storms and rain – it became a sand bar – which happens a couple of times a year – except this time – it happened on the day of the three inch rain. . . . Where are all these little creeks supposed to drain to now? The lake swells. Fills. Cleanses. That’s for sure! All of the docks disappear in our little horseshoe area. 🙂 Which – leads to less time at the kitchen table doing our writing, math and studies – and more time seeing the lake. The river is open now and we hear rumors of the coho swimming up – we will head that way after breakfast to check it out! Here are a few Full Lake Pics for you. In the year we have been here, this is the highest its been. You don’t want to hear the reports of what this does to the old basements in the neighborhood!

It gets me to pondering the thoughts of a boy – in the vast out doors – where lake and sky meet – fishing.
He always comes in the house with a new tune, a sparkle in the eye, a refreshment. Oh to have the tiny lil feet that longs to stand in water and fish. :) The only distraction of the day is watching a Blue Heron swap posts with the White Egret. 🙂
The water came up over the posts you see in this picture – just to the base of the bottom baseboard of the boathouse. This little fish was found on the dock as the water receeded. Jon spent quite a bit of time trying to get the fish to follow his bait to swim across the dock. He says the best part is that our dog rookie can swim up ad onto the dock. She loves it! Nice way to clean off the bird doo! Our home is up a small rise of yard.
The water had gone down quite a bit, but there is still a few inches covering the dock.

Love these photos. 🙂 Miss you!!
