November Nature Walk

DSCN8801

At the end of last summer we read that we would have a November Nature Walk Comparison Walk. The challenge was to walk a familiar trail and see the differences in late Autumn as compared to spring or summer. This is our first year in town – so we don’t really have any “regular” walks. We chose the Spring Lake Open Space to take some before and after shots. The first shot is November 24th, the second shot was August 9th.

The boys said they didn’t see any fuzzy doggy bombs.   . . . nice.  We did see quite a few mushrooms. Since the temperature has dropped, the ground was frozen with a few snow flurries here and there. There was less moss. No berries. No Alder Leaves. The Water as higher. The Trail Muddier. Only one sound of chirping Squirrels. No birds.

Nate threw a pebble in the water to break the mirror so I would move on. 🙂 He wanted to go to the Skate Park and take photos there of the “bowl” full of frozen water. There wasn’t any water in the bowl  . . weird???

    Beautiful!

    Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. The first photo is frame-worthy. Such a great glimpse into your November World which I would imagine in your part of Oregon that you are much wetter this time of year. We are much colder but still have lots of sunshine.

My boys used to sort of grumble when I took too long taking photos but now they have their own cameras and take just as long as I do. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your November World.

Happy Thanksgiving Barb! Usually the camera keeps mom entertained while the boys explore – The shot with the trees was found almost and hour into the walk and we were a few feet from the car. 🙂 They wanted to get on with our day. Silly Boys. 🙂 Thanks for the Outdoor Challenges!

What a beautiful area you live in. I love your photos. I am amazed at how green it still is. Thank you for sharing your world with us.

Thanks Phyllis! We have enjoyed all of the Turkey Creative Inspirations! The boys were hoping that it would get cold enough for frozen bubbles, but it didn’t really drop under 30-32 during our cold snap. Now we are back to 48. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by – Happy Thanksgiving!
