The other day I went up to a neighbor’s house for bible study in the morning – and mentioned that I had picked up a few books from the library to get more ideas for soup recipes and for home made noodles. She said noodles couldn’t be simpler – and whipped out some wheat flour, eggs, salt and chicken broth – in just a few minutes – the noodles were boiling, and we had a tasty treat! I couldn’t wait to come home and show the boys!
Make a pile of a cup to a cup and a half of flour. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and plop an egg in the middle. Use a spritz of water if the flour is too dry. We used 2-3 spoons of flour at her house but didn’t need any at mine.
She used fresh ground wheat –
I used Store Bought White. ![]()
Nate proved to be a bit serious about the flour and really didn’t like the feel of it on his fingers. Always reminding me of how sensitive and serious that boy is!
He did a good job of it though – he just kept trying to get it off of his fingers. I will cut the noodles much thinner next time.
Nate cut each piece one at a time and put it in the bowl.
They did need to get rolled a bit more flat.
Into a steamy boiling pot of 4 cups of chicken broth for a swim.
They turned out to be a bit like thin dumplings
– they took about 20 minutes to cook all the way through.
While they cooked, I pan seared seasoned chicken breasts, then sautéed onions, celery and carrots. Oh. Baby. This was good!!!!
Nate’s been really liking to cook in the kitchen. Wonder what we should teach him next???

wow, that is amazing! I’ve never even contemplated making pasta..but, your photos make it look so easy!…hmm, thinking maybe even I could do this. I was most impressed at how simple it was, no expensive pasta making machine! Thanks for sharing!
YEAH! I’m so glad you guys came over and did homemaking/homesteading stuff with me. I had great fun. So pleased it was profitable as well as pleasurable. Love to you!
yumm yumm yumm!! I made my first batch of homemade noodles a couple of months ago and wow, talk about delicious! I’m going to make mine fatter next time (while you make yours thinner lol!)
my goodness, it sounds so easy. I do wish I could come over and watch you work, and sample it. I’ll try myself though…
Wow, does that look GOOD! And so good for you in the cold season. I have been meaning to try to make them again. My first try was just a mess. I did something wrong. I have been scared to try again. LOL
