Well. We’ve been focusing on Math, Writing, Nature, Music, Art and History the last couple of months. My thought – was that ‘when the rains came’ we’d have more time for longer reading periods, research, science, Latin, and Movie Making. We’d have long cozy afternoons. Sigh. So this weekend – The Rains Came. We spent the weekend working for the City at the Kite Festival. In the Rain. Had a Blast.
So I get excited for Monday. I’ve been tracking the water levels of the lake – watching it rise tremendously since Friday afternoon. Several feet of beach is now under water. We had to sit at the window working on math as the boys watched that full lake fill with waves. Uh-Oh.
Not what I had expected. The Surfing Lessons might take a bite out of our robotics lesson.
This wasn’t what I expected. Our first storm, by the way – 50 mph wind gusts blasting the house, downpours flooding the basement, thunder and lightning, loss of power for a couple of hours at a time, and A Whole Lot of Water – but we’re still having fun. I’ll need to get the schedule typed out a bit and just plug things in. I wanted a slower start in Sept/October, but it is time to start making our afternoons a bit more intentional.
Bombs Away. What would you do if this was your back yard? Sigh.
I’d be doing the same thing! Love it!
I prepare for the snow the same way you speak of the rain, and find its soft sledding surface and quiet peaceful appeal just as distracting. 🙂
