The Sparkle Box–Jill Hardie–and Giveaway

Screen Shot 2012-10-02 at 3.00.37 PM copyLooking for “A Gift with the Power to Change Christmas?” The Sparkle Box might just be a great new tradition for your family.

The Book, The Sparkle Box, follows an only child, a boy, who appears to be between 4 and 6. He joins his mom and dad during the month of December as they go through their holiday activities.  He has spotted a silver sparkly box by the Nativity Scene – and asks what it is about.  His mom answers patiently – that it is still being worked on and not quite ready to open.  The story finishes with the boy opening the box and finding little notes written, remembering the things they had done for others – as a gift to Jesus on Christmas Day.

The book is beautiful hard bound, cover jacket – with a Sparkle Box included ready to assemble.  I would think that if you have younger child, that this book might be a great transition if your focus has been mostly on the American Cultural traditions – and would like to intentionally swing it towards gifts for Christ instead of Gifts from Santa.  There is a Christmas Tree and Stockings in the book – along with the Nativity.

The story is well spaced on the beautifully illustrated pages – it will make for a wonderful evening read around the Thanksgiving Time – A great extension of how thankful we are – is to be active and do for others. They also included buying a well for a tribe in Africa and I just got in my World Vision catalog – great idea!

I have two copies I’d like to give away – One for a local family, and one to be mailed inside the US.  Comment on the blog here – to be entered!  Thanks.

I will draw a name on Friday.
