Crawdads!

P1110232

Jon came up with a bucket of crawdads, super excited to show his dad. Next thing you know we were all on the dock trying to catch them.

Nate moved a huge log that had drifted in this winter, and found several crawdads underneath.

They put some frozen smelt on a pole, dangle it by the log, and then pull up the crawdad all quick like.

In the photo below, you should be able to see the log . . .

He really is like this all the time. Crazy kid. It’s almost six here in the PNW, he’s been going since early morning for a dawn patrol surf. Mama needs a nap.

Dad was home for lunch and got in on the action.  He caught quite few quickly.  We are low on our seasonings right now, not enough for a decent boil, so we’ll wait . . . Jon ate one after we tossed them all back into the lake.

Most interesting find – this one didn’t’ have any pinchers up front,
but he did have some growing back. Jon thought that was pretty cool.
