The Water Lily flower starts it’s life wrapped inside a beautiful bright green protective egg type structure.
These “eggs” taken apart reveals the most amazing flower pod!
This amazing pod is what started our interest in the Later Lily as our June’s Plant Pick to observe and learn about.
The bottom structure is sponge light, lots of air holes to help it float we think.
As the pod naturally opens the petals grow and the green parts seem to shrink away.
The Pistol and seeds inside start to grow in length/height.
The flower petals seem to decrease, down to 2-3 petals.
The pistol is Really long, 1-2 inches when fully developed.
And there ya have it – what an amazing flower design by the Creator for us to enjoy , ponder, mysterious, and clever, beautiful and fragrant. We give a big thumbs up!
This is so very cool! I love your photos and explainations. I have learned so much from it. Thank you for this post.
