Carlito C Caterpillars Math House Games

Caterpillar-1

Even though my boys are in/near the full Algebra Stage, I was interested to see the Carlito C. Caterpillar’s Math House Games to share with my readers of  younger children. The idea of it, each card has a game, which may be easily played, with your toddler or young one.  It has quite a bit of information about MOPS, how to join, how to support, how they started. It is meant as a tool to help Mom’s of Preschoolers.

The website does not show any of the steps, or any of the games.  They say an iPad App is coming – but hasn’t been released yet.   Based on their Copy write Page, as the first Page – directed to Copy write Pirates – I can’t really share the exact games, and since they didn’t share the pages, I will not photograph them for you.

What I liked, is that it gives you 20 activities to interact with your child – with a purpose of learning involved.  What I didn’t like – is that many of these activities may come naturally, or at a later date.  I liked how they used every day objects for Math Object Lessons of sorts, I didn’t like the way they scripted out the parent’s dialog.  Anyone with me with the dialog from Teach Your Child to Read in  100 Easy Lessons? Sigh. But- I like that, I remember when I started, I really needed someone to teach me how to bring learning into the every day activity, with just a little planning – or the knowledge in my bank – when an opportunity arose.

Over all – for a review – I’ve never given the price a big concern. You know what your budget is. I say – This is advertised at $23.95, including Shipping and Handling, and allow you to decide if this is expensive or not.  I’ve gotta say – I’ve never, so far, spent almost $25.00 on a full year of math curriculum. If you have personal questions, please comment or email me – this review does not come with my blanket approval and my urge to rush out and order this product. But – if you are a preschool mom, who really needs some helps with math language – this might be the easiest 20 step plan for you.

I think this looks like a great game. My younger nephews don’t totally understand the homeschool concept but they know that when they hang out with their cousins they learn lots because my boys love to play educational games. I can see this as a fun game for all the boys today play. Sometimes I think the older kids teaching the younger kids is a better test of the knowledge than any test we can give them.

I love to hear from my readers, I appreciate comments!
