My favorite hour on the beach, is that time when the sun breaches the eastern hill, illuminating the dark recesses of the shoreline, reflecting abundant light on the whitecaps of the breaker waves. Watching the swells come, pushed for miles by the wind, hearing and feeling their power being stopped by grains of sand. The burst of energy as they crash into the massive outcropping of rocks. Bright Sea Stars clinging to the rocks as they munch on the salty muscles while being showered by the breaking waves. Each time I leave I ask – Why don’t I drive down here, the whole mile or two, every single morning?
