Unite For Life

I was given the opportunity to pre-screen the Unplanned DVD, a documentary type movie about Abby Johnson – of how she ended up being the Director of one of the largest Planned Parenthood facilities – and how she got out. I am giving away 2 copies of the DVD – details at the end of this post.

I had expected a historical fiction type movie – and was treated instead – to listening to Abby, her husband, parents and friends, explain how a “nice southern Christian girl” came to have a passion for helping women in their time of need. Only – She believed the lie – because in her, Abby’s, time of need, the help she received to abort a baby – seemed the best way. Her passion and zeal led her through the ranks – to Director – and it was 8 years into her career before she actually saw an Abortion being performed on an ultra sound. It was her turning moment – of realizing – what Planned Parenthood was doing to these babies  – that the babies could feel pain – – and the lies she had been given, were snapping out of place.

Unplanned DVD Trailer

I watched the Unplanned, the DVD, last evening – with a girlfriend – and to be honest. . . I was left speechless after the movie. I’m not sure who the movie is directed towards – Created by Focus On the Family – and Pro Life Groups – the largest point of the movie seemed to be that Abby just didn’t realize the science behind the development of a child in the womb, and once she did – she realized the child felt pain – and then it became wrong.

The movie seemed to promote an education of  “why did this happen” – the turn in the life of young Abby – born and raised in a Christian Family in a Christian Town, going to Youth Group – and off to a big college. How would she see abortion as helping girls?

I saw my younger self in Abby – some of the choices and thought process that she had. The uncertainty of right or wrong with Pro-Life or Pro-Choice resting on what was Best for the Mom.

I think my hangup- my speechless thought  – is where is the relationship with Christ? Where is the promotion of the Family? Where are women being taught that children are a gift from the Lord? Created by Him?  Although I have many half siblings, I was the youngest, raised mostly as an only child. I was raised with the thought that children were undesired, to be given away. A burden – a responsibility. The actions of my parents showed me this, as I have never enjoyed a family meal with any of my 3 sisters, and I remember one or two meals with a step brother, but never one meal with any of the siblings together. Even in the same town.

As I have grown – and met many types of families – and seen the fruit of a quiver full – the joy of a large family – My desire would be for these types of promotions – to include – Marriage – large families – trusting God with your womb – praising God for His Creation. I was married 8 years before conceiving a child, I have thanked, sometimes daily,  the Lord that He waited to create life in me this long – as I am not sure if I would have been an Abby in my youth.

I think the DVD might be a good Biblically bland viewing – maybe might help someone that is working in Planned Parenthood to see some of the truth – or at least plant doubt  of what they have been fed to believe about helping women.

I’m not sure who the DVD targets?  In the promotional information that I was given for this blog post – it seems to be about the raising of money. In the video – it was apparent that the whole agenda between Planned Parenthood and the Government was about the money. And for Abby – the break down of the Money was the clue that they didn’t have the girls’ best interest at heart.

And yet – as I try to see what exactly this promotion is doing – It seems more about raising monies for bigger facilities to help girls – than it is about the girls themselves.

I really shouldn’t blog when I’m rambling – but it seems that a focus should be centered – a focus THIS BIG – should be centered at targeting 5th grade girls. Quit sheltering these girls – who are talking about boys. Show them God’s plan and His desire for their life. Show them God’s plan and desire for Marriage. Teach them to respect their bodies. Teach them how to develop healthy relationships. Teach them how to find acceptance in Christ, and not in people. Infuse their lives with loving mentors who will speak truth into their lives. Infuse their every waking moment with the Word.

It seems to me – that the point of desperation  – that moment of finding out they got pregnant when they weren’t ready to be a mom – is a strange place to start.

I am fulfilling my commitment to promote Unplanned the DVD, and I am providing information to the link for the LIFE webcast – and I will tell you that 33% of the monies will go to Crisis Pregnancy Centers – but it seems like the 67% will go to people, making money, by telling a story – Pray not only for the girls that enter through the gates of Planned Parenthood – Be on  your knees for the girls who are in the world, walking the halls, dressing to attract, learning how to bring love and fulfillment to themselves through their beautiful bodies.  Pray.  For the girls.

The Unite for LIFE webcast is a free webcast featuring Abby Johnson that will benefit pregnancy care organizations. You can sign up to participate on May 17 at 8:00 p.m. (in all time zones) at http://www.uniteforlifewebcast.org. Unplanned the book and the DVD will be available for purchase as a package deal and 33% of each purchase will go to crisis pregnancy centers like CareNet, the National Institute of Family & Life Advocates, and Heartbeat International.

And – if you are curious – I have Two Copies of the Unplanned Movie to give away for free! Comment here, or on the http://www.facebook.com/Petra.School post of this blog entry, and make sure I have a way to contact you for the prize!  I will draw on Friday, May 6th.  You may have one entry here, for a comment, and one entry on the Facebook Page – with a comment.

Angie, found this by way of a comment you made on Ken Ham’s FB post about Bass Pro. You said Marshfield, and since we’re here as well, it got my interest. I enjoyed this post, and would be interested in seeing the DVD, showing to our Homeschool group or even at church.

Our family – The Evans – lived in Elkton, we were there for a bit -then moved into Marshfield. We went to the Baptist church there – and miss all the people – I worked in the Square for Jim McNabb. Oh how I love the Oregon Coast – but wish my boys could be raised in such a town!

We moved to Marshfield several years ago to pastor a church here. We love the community, the homeschoolers in the area, etc. Never been to Oregon, but I’m sure it’s great. Still, we are quite content here in SW MO. Again, I’ve enjoyed your blog. May God richly bless you and your family as you seek to serve Him daily.
